Pot them up and mulch them heavily. I"ve seen demo gardens like that as well as nurseries but don't know too many (if any) people gardening like that. I mulch heavily in the fall to overwinter them, occassionally water in a teaspoon of sulphur and place new peat moss in the pots each spring. I had a nice little crop last year.
